Hitting the ground running.....

So.... back from Fancy Gap.  Lots of bags and boxes here and there all over the house.  The van may be empty, but the 'stuff' is not yet all put away.

I chilled a bit after getting home on Monday, getting the things that needed to be kept cold out of the van when I got home and then finished up on Tuesday while getting the trash gathered up and back into the preparing for trash day.

I had an appointment on Wednesday to have the air conditioner serviced for the cooling season.  But the gentleman who appeared was prepared to clean the furnace.  I questioned him and he assured me that the schedule was for the furnace cleaning.  Later in the day, Mack Services called and admitted their mistake and the air conditioner will be serviced this coming Wednesday.

I wrote a letter of resignation to the Lions Club,  I have been struggling with this since December.  I have carried with me, to each meeting, a similar letter.  I have just not been happy with the way this particular club does things.  It is the way they have been done since long before I became a Lion, but I just am not getting a good feeling when I go to the meetings and I have gotten very frustrated with the membership not attending meetings and not responding to requests for counts for dinners, etc.  So, while I was away in Fancy Gap I made the decision to leave the organization and concentrate on my sewing and my church and my traveling.

I met with Ashley McCormick from Parkesburg United Methodist Church.  She is the Music Director and brought their handbell choir to Parkesburg Mennonite for our 5th Sunday Music Service.  She needed to see the sanctuary so she could determine how to set up the bells.  So Wednesday was busy but not so much in getting things out away.

Thursday I was in the bedroom all day.  I took the time to unpack my suitcases and go through some drawers, organizing the clothes I had taken to Fancy Gap and getting rid of some things that I have not worn in a while.  Still have to do that with shoes, but the suitcases are empty and ready to go back up to the attic until the next trip, in late summer or early fall.

Friday was grocery shopping day.  I was also preparing for pillowcase sewing on Saturday,  So the boxes and bags are still everywhere.

Saturday I was at church with 6 other ladies, sewing pillowcases and showing new sewers how to make cooling scarfs.  It was a really fun day!

This morning I had a crockpot full of pork loin chops in mushroom gravy for the fellowship meal that was planned during my absence since we were going to have guests for the service.  I also had to go buy some iced tea for drinks.  The Handbell Choir came and played beautifully.  They had some children, a couple of young people and some adults.  It was wonderful to see them working together to produce some beautiful music.  They joined us for the meal.  It was wonderful seeing two churches work so well together.

I came home and found myself drifting off to sleep in the recliner.  So I guess I am taking the day of rest literally.

This is a video I took with my phone of the Handbell Choir this morning.  I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Ready to tackle the Day....

Finally home from my month long plus adventure in Fancy Gap, VA and 50th High School Reunion in Ashland, KY.  Got home around noon yesterday.  Got some of the stuff unpacked from the van, but not anywhere near getting it all inside.  Just ran out of steam.

But I fell into my own, wonderful, adjustable, vibrating, surrounds you with softness bed and slept like a log.  Up sometime between 7AM and 8AM and have been catching up on various computer things.

I have to replace the batteries in a sensor in my alarm system soon.  It started giving warning beeps before I left.  I have turned the beep volume down so I do not hear anything more than a click, but it is still very annoying.  I also have to reconnect my work desktop to the world.  When I arrived home yesterday and started walking through the house, there was another annoying screech coming from my office.  a UPS unit that I had that computer plugged into was madly blinking and making the noise.  I am guessing that the battery inside has finally died.  So I will be removing that and replacing it with a Line Conditioner that I took to Fancy Gap to plug my sewing machine into.  But in the meantime, if you are looking for my cameras, they are not broadcasting as that was the computer that broadcasts the live feed from all eight of them

But I am much more rested and going to try to get most of the stuff out of the van, get the cameras back online and tomorrow, when the air conditioner guys are out doing the yearly checkup of the system (it is working very well and I want to keep it that way), I will attempt to replace the batteries in the two motion sensors so the trouble beeps stop going off.

Heading to get a shower and start working.....

There is No Place Like Home...

I have had a wonderful month plus away from home.  Fancy Gap was relaxing and creative and renewing and just what I needed.  Marji Lantz was there the entire time and if Best Friends could become better best friends, it happened in Fancy Gap.

Then I moved on to Ashland, KY for my 50th High School Reunion.  Saw lots of people I have not seen since graduation day.  It was also a very nice time.

I have stories from the entire time which I will share with you in the next few posts.  But for now, just call me Dorothy... there is no place like home.  The van will be unpacked slowly but I am looking forward to sleeping in my own amusement park bed and not having to be up early to travel anywhere.
