Doing OK.

Hello friends and family.

I am sitting in my house, generator running.

Bad storms came through the area this afternoon.  There are some 400,000 folks in the area without power.  Took me most of the evening to get through to PECO to report the outage.  The initial estimate for restoration was 10 PM tonight.  When 10:30 PM came, I called again.  Now the estimate is June 25th by 11 PM.

I did discover there is an issue with the socket that was installed on the porch.  The plug does not tighten down.  I only had partial power at first until I wiggled it and had full power.  Guess I will have to contact an electrician to check it out.  But it is at least working for today.

I have not tried running the air conditioning.  Just fans, lights, TV and Internet.  Will try the well pump tomorrow in the daylight.

I will need to get more gas tomorrow.  Fridges are running too, so no loss of food.

The sun was shining by dusk.  Strange weather these days.

Good night.....

Waiting and waiting

I am sitting here in the cardiologist's waiting area.  I was told to be here 15 minutes early to check in.  My appointment was for 11AM and it is 10 minutes after.

I know.  10 minutes, not bad for a doctor. But the last person who was let in, they thanked them for waiting.

It is and will always be a pet peeve of mine. Waiting and waiting for a doctor who is running late is annoying.  Things happen, but even though I am retired,  my time is valuable.

And the aggregation is only making my blood pressure high, which will only serve to alarm the doctor.  Catch 22!

Update...it is 11:45AM and I have been taken to a room, seen 2 nurses and am still waiting on the doctor.  This is ridiculous.

Working more slowly than I would like.....

So, I have made some strides in getting unpacked from Fancy Gap.  Today I got the suitcases put back up in the attic.  I wanted to find the small box of Button Flower holders that I had put upstairs.  Plus, I was tired of skirting around the pile of travel bags at the door to the attic.  So, I moved the vacuums and ventured up the stairs.

The travel bags are now waiting for either a trip in July to see my brother and his family or my youngest son in Minñeapolis.  I took a couple of minutes and brought down, not only the Button Flower containers, but a few empty boxes, some purses and briefcases along with a box full of spa slippers that I had gotten to embroider but never did.

I went through the purses to make sure they were empty.  Took them out into the Elantra.  I then replied to an online yard sale and bought a single bottle wine cooler.  I sometimes find that I would like a particular bottle of wine only to find it warm.  I thought it might be a nice gadget to have.  So I picked it up around 4:00 PM and then headed to the 10 & 41 Thrift Shop to donate the attire finds to help benefit the Lions.  I might not be a member any more, but I can still support their projects through donations.  While there, I was given a. Outlet of aprons to embroider for them and got to chat with my neighbor, who was volunteering there.

I have been moving very slowly lately.  I am just not feeling on top of the world.  I imagine it is a let down from the mountain trip and reunion.  But I feel like I am moving like a slug on the cement walks in the summertime.  I did laundry yesterday.  All of my clothing and sheets plus two blankets. I also had to remake my bed.  But I find I run out of energy mid day and getting motivated at all is hard.  I hope this is temporary.  I have lots of things I would like to do and a lot of things that need to be done... Just look at my "to-do" list!

But I manage to get farther along everyday, anyway.  So I am continuing my forward journey to my 'new normal'.
