P I C T U R E S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better late than never.  But I have been busy working in the basement and today, thrift store browsing in the damp, cold weather.

First, I have pictures of the new floor in the now, empty bedroom that my boys shared when they were young.  Rudy had built the room as the tiny bedroom upstairs was really way too small for two boys to grow up in.  I had very little money at the time, much like now, so we put down a foam backed, looped carpet to warm the basement floor up and it had been on the floor for 35+ years.

After putting down the laminate flooring in the sewing room, I bought extra boxes and that was the 'big' project that got finished with Danny and Darren's help while Rob was here.  So the cheap carpet came up and the Dri-Core panels, waterproof sheets and the laminate went down.  Now I have to finish painting the room, go through all of the stuff that came out of the room and put it back together into a more livable room for the boys when they come and visit.

I have been finishing a project on my 'to-do' list in the sewing room.  There had been a workbench at the back of the room and I choose to leave it in the room after the floor went down.  It had a particle board top and in order to use it for cutting material, it needed to be a smooth, hard surface.  There is a particle board sheet at most lumber stores that has melamine glued on both sides, making it a perfect surface for cutting mats and rotary cutters.  I went to Home Depot and bought a 4' X 8' sheet and had them cut it to the correct size.  I could have cut it, but it is a really heavy material and I could never have wrestled the full sheet around to cut it down.  I brought it home, cleared off the workbench and glued the piece down to the other top.  After setting up overnight, I covered the raw edges with yard sticks that I bought at Home Depot, too.  All I have left to do now, is paint the legs white, and that is finished.

Still have to get one more yard stick.  The side of the workbench that is up against the cutting table from Indian Acres still has a raw edge, so I will get another yard stick and cover that edge.  But this way we can measure out some yardages easier if we need to do that.  Two people, now, can easily be cutting back on the tables and the cloth covered, silver thing on the floor is an ironing surface that can be laid on top of the mat to so some ironing.

I am really pleased with the room now.  Sill have some things to organize, but that will come in time.  I took time today to make three sets of Half Square Triangles.  I am doing a Half Square Triangle Challenge... I am getting directions for a new Half Square Triangle Block for 24 weeks.  I am three weeks behind, so I made three sets of triangles and will hopefully get caught up before the next clue comes out on Saturday.
