Are you a "B I"?????

Sometimes friends are “B I’s”…..

And what is a “B I”??  Everyone at sometime can be a “B I”.  And being a “B I” is not always a negative, it all depends on what the “B I” gets you involved in or what action they cause you to take.

My most recent “B I”’s name is Mary.  She is among my best friends.  Her initial instance of being a “B I” was when she began to share her talent at creating beautiful quilt tops.  She has been creating them for many years and the beauty that she creates is spectacular.  She has made dozens and dozens of them but until this year she did not have any of her quilts in her home.  She has been patient and generous with her time and had shared secrets and tips while being encouraging to me as I falter and struggle to learn a new talent at my advancing age.  But she got me hooked on quilting and that makes her a “B I”.

In the last few weeks, she has once again become a “B I”…. but this time I am not sure it will be the good thing that the quilting became in my life.  Mary introduced me to Temp-tations on QVC!  This can only end badly.

For those of you who have not seen the infomercials that are on different cable channels late at night or have not tuned into QVC during their presentation of Temp-tations, this is a beautiful collection of ceramic cooking ware… casseroles, baking dishes, pie plates, trays, dip sets, etc.  Just about anything that one might need to create beautiful meals or entertain guests has been created in space saving, durable and adorable items in a multitude of colors.

Mary had seen some of the items from a co-worker and had fallen in love with them.  When she came to spend a weekend with me a few weeks ago, she shared these delightful items with me.  And they are, indeed, beautiful.  I found a small set of stacking oval dishes that have handles that look like a chicken that I found charming.  I ordered them in the cranberry color and they are perfect for creating oven baked meals for a single person.

A bit later, Mary called me to tell me of a design that she had ordered for one of our mutual friends and wanted me to check them out.  I did and then continued to look at the QVC page of sale items of Temp-tations.  There was a lovely plate and soup bowl combo for light dinners or heavy lunches.  It was the standard shaped bowl with the round handle that one normally sees for French Onion Soup.  A nice set, but I kept scrolling.  Then I saw a similar set with the chicken decoration like my casseroles.  I did not like them as much in these bowls.  The next mouse scroll and there they were… the cutest soup bowl and plate set I have ever seen.  The plate was the same as all of the others, but the bowl was an adorable, little pig.  I did not like them in the cranberry but I did like the green ones.  I debated for days, but in the end I ordered 2 sets.  It will give me four bowls so that when my ladies get together for a lunch or dinner and I serve soup… fast becoming one of my favorites… we can each have a fun piggy bowl to eat it from.

So… what is a “B I”??  Anyone who is a BAD INFLUENCE.  In the last couple of weeks… her name has been Mary!
