Verizon Strikes Again...

Another change for Jane….

I had a phone call this morning around 9:15 AM… “Hello, this is your Verizon Tech.  I am scheduled to do some work at your house.  I will be arriving in about 20 minutes.”  “OK”, I said… thinking he was supposed to be here after 11:00 AM… sure glad I am already showered and dressed!

I had contacted Verizon about an offer that they had to increase my Internet speed.  I had a very nice lady and we chatted quite a while.  She went over all of my account and what they could offer me.  You see, I have Internet and Phone with them and have had for a long, long time.  Since they added TV, they have dangled ‘package’ deals in front of me for all three services.  But, as long as I had the property in Maryland, I was going to keep DirecTV as I had a dish mounted there and could bring one of my boxes from home down for the summer and not have a separate cable bill.  BUT, as you know, I sold that property at the end of the year so I no longer needed that service.  And since the cost of the three services from Verizon was just about what I was paying for two, I arranged to make the change from DirecTV and install FIOS everything and kick up my Internet speed to 50/20.

So the young man arrived early, looked over the scope of his work and set about connecting everything that needed to be connected.  I will be paying for a couple of boxes, but overall, I will have close to a $50.00 per month savings while gaining a really superior picture and On Demand.

I had asked him about my router that had been installed many years ago.  Over the last several months, since installed my web cams, I have had to reboot my router about once a week.  The tech was not sure he could do anything, but after checking his work orders and my account, he brought in a new router and we got it hooked up and running.  I was able to get the wireless operational and then had to set about resetting every single wireless device I had in the house.  IPad, cell phone, 4 web cams, laptop, 3 Roku boxes, 1 Blu-Ray player are the ones I thought of, but I am sure there will be one that will pop-up that I have not thought of.

The television picture is amazing.  It is sharp and crisp and the colors phenomenal.  I have not lost any of my favorite channels and may have gained some new ones.  I have HD cable in the bedroom and the office as well.  Woo Hoo!

The Internet has changed also.  I ran a speed test just to verify that they had tweaked my settings and to see if the promised speed was actually there.  The picture speaks for itself.  Can you say…. Happy Camper???
Happy, Happy!!!
