I spent Monday gathering and packing and loading things into the car. Up late, making sure things were in order for an early start..
The alarm went off at 7:00 AM but I snoozed until about 7:20 AM. Took my time so I did not forget anything... and I think there is a small case of cables and the like that are at home. I have what I need in the computer bag, so I will survive. Took time to get online and pay some bills so I will not have to be bothered by anything like that until I get home. Transferred some money into checking to cover gas on the journey, It was about 9:30 AM before I backed out of the driveway.
The day was cloudy and at times looked like it could rain. The last remnants of Nate, I assume. Not much traffic, until I got to Columbus, OH. I hit there right around rush hour. A couple of crazy drivers but nothing like our rush hours in Chester County.
I made it to the Red Roof Inn just west of Columbus by 5:30. One stop for gas and to walk the dogs. They are really good in the car... usually. Winston slept all the way.
Miles started out resting but discovered a tiny fly in the car, so he got all riled up trying to catch it. I had to yell at him a couple of times. After our stop for gas at a pt stop, he, too, slept. It is a good thing he did not spot the stink bug walking around the dashboard or I would have had him in the windshield trying to get at that critter. I kept an eye on Mr. Stink, but he disappeared up near the roof. I may see him again tomorrow.
Got settled in my room. Got all of the stuff in from the car. The dogs have their luggage and I had mine and food for the evening. I brought along a little cooker that did a really good job heating up soup. I also brought along hot dogs and buns with wax paper to throw in the microwave. I almost over did the dog, but the soup was delicious. It is just easier to fix in the room rather than either leave the dogd or take them through a drive thru.
Miles is spending his first night in a motel with me. I am in a Red Roof Inn. I have always found them very comfortable and clean... plus they do not charge for pets in the room. Miles is stretched out on the floor, staring at the door.
I had brought along my Roku Box that I took to the Outer Banks. I was bound and determined to be able to use it in the hotel/motel room. Most of the time the cable in the room is really, really basic. So I had been researching how I could stream Netflix and Sling TV in the room. I had purchased the Conectify software that allows you to turn your laptop into a WiFi Hotspot. I had got it running at home. I verified that it ran well in the OBX (even though the house internet sucked). SO I got things fired up here.
I am happy to say that I am watching the Hallmark Mysteries and Movies channel on my Roku box in my motel room.
Here is the Roku Home screen:
And here, even though it is blurry, is a picture of one of the movies playing. Works Just fine.
Tomorrow I am heading to Lake Villa, IL and my cousin, Linda's, little lake house for several days. We have not visited since Fancy Gap last year. I am not sure of everything we are doing, but I gather she and I will be painting on Friday night. I will take lots of pictures.
Time for a little down time.
