January 21, 2013 – Almanac Project
A really funky day. A
bit of sun very early, then the gray clouds rolled in. The temperature began to fall, but the light
snow during the day never came. I
watched the weather radar and could see the system roll overhead, but nothing
came down to the ground. Another peek of
sunshine after lunch and then a sudden burst of gray skies and snow right
around 6:00 PM, just as I headed out to my GriefShare meeting. It covered everything with a thin layer of snow
here in my area and I actually had to scrape ice off the windshield before
heading home after the meeting. I had no
trouble driving, but many of the area roads got very dangerous with black ice
that appeared without warning. Temperatures
today were a high of 36 and a low of 27. Officially, there was .05 inches of rain
before it changed to snow and at the measuring location; there was 1.4 inches
of snow during the brief snow storm. It
was more of a dusting here.
